The cooperative industry also has suffered from COVID-19 and we as DGRV/GKCD have been working on a game plan to enhance and ensure that cooperators at home are equipped with the latest information regardless of the situation.
Together with our partners Narok CETIC we teamed up and came up with a strategy on how to reach our partners in the rural areas, the idea involved getting cooperative officers from the six (6) Narok sub-counties to work closely with the Co-operatives and SACCOs within their region and together with the various officials from different co-operatives to produce a list with officials who were to attend a now Stakeholders’ Meeting. The meetings were scheduled as per COVID-19 regulations of fifteen pax per meeting as follows;
- The first meeting on 30th April 2021, attended by thirteen (13) leaders from Narok North Sub-County.
- Second meeting was held on 7th May and was attended by ten (10) officials from Transmara west sub-County.
- The third meeting was held on 17th May 2021 with twelve (12) delegates from Narok West Sub-County.
- The fourth meeting took place on 21st May 2021 and in attendance were eleven (12) officials from Narok East Sub-County.
- The fifth meeting was held on 28th may 2021 with eleven (11) officials from Narok South Sub-County.
- The sixth and last meeting was held on 4th June 2021 with eleven (11) officials from Transmara East Sub County.
With good work relation with CETIC Narok it was successful to at least have 10 officials from various Co-operatives and SACCOs from within the targeted Regions and one Co-operative officer from the co-operative Department from each and every sub-county.
During these meetings, representatives were able to express their views on the leadership and governance structure of CETIC Narok as they were given background information on our organization. We also introduced our E-learning application on “Basics of Cooperatives” which was well received and a good number were able to register and enroll for the course.
As DGRV/GKCD we are delightful and that with many of the co-operative’s present showing an interest to join the CETIC and its our hope that our partner (CETIC NAROK) will continue to recruit more members.
