Preparing a new generation of co-operators for their important role in the sustainability of the Kenyan Co-operative sector is one of our major projects concerns. In this regard, GKCD/DGRV Kenya and the Kipkelion District Co-operative Union Youth Council (KYC) partner to strategically develop the capacities of young people in Kipkelion District. This partnership aims to materialize new entrepreneurial potential in the local Co-operative sector.
KYC is a youth umbrella organization with the overarching goal to strengthen the entrepreneurial success of associated young people. The organisation provides need-based coaching, advises on business opportunities in the area and helps to create an avenue for self-organized employment.
GKCD/ DGRV e.V. is proud to go this way together with KYC whom we have assisted in the development of a 5 year Strategic Plan in October 2020. The strategic planning process was an exciting journey for KYC to craft their mission and vision but also to reflect on their value proposition in the long run. Together with their key stakeholders KYC created a promising Strategic Plan for 2021 – 2025, which is an important milestone for this young organization. Through this participatory process, KYC was reassured with a sense of belonging and organizational direction for the next 5 years.
We are looking forward to further support KYC in achieving their new vision: “To be the most preferred youth organization in promoting socio-economic interest of its members and community in the South Rift and its environs”
