The Kipkelion Youth Service Co-operative Society Ltd (KYSC) is designated to bring youth into sustainable business. KYSC’s members originate from a coffee growing area and they dream of launching their own coffee shop start-up. Over a period of about 6 months, they worked hard to tweak their business concept: A Coffee TukTuk and a Coffeehouse! DGRV/GKCD had the honor to guide the business plan development for those two great business ventures.
Sustainability was the key point when the team developed the details of the business idea. We started by conducting market research in Kericho Town where we tried to understand the desires of the local market. Processing these data really helped to inform the plannings for the business.
In the course of 3 workshops, the team crafted every detail of the Kipkelion Coffee TukTuk and the Kipkelion Coffeehouse. The way the business will be operated, which products will be offered, which competitive advantage KYSC can add, the design of the shops and the financials involved were discussed and decided. At last, all these important particulars were gathered in the business plan document itself. From now onwards, the fundraising to start both businesses begins aiming for the Coffee TukTuk to hit the ground by October 2022 followed by the Kipkelion Coffeehouse in early 2024!
